Rules of Decorum for Association



  1. A Moderator and Clerk chosen by the suffrage of the members present.
  2. The Moderator shall take the chair at the hour to which the Association shall be convened, and after prayer shall proceed to business.  It shall be his duty to keep order, and be entitled to the privilege of speech as that of other members, provided he appoints someone of the members to fill the chair during the exercises of such privilege, and in no case shall he give a vote unless the Association be equally divided.
  3. Only one members shall be allowed to speak at a time, who shall rise from his seat and address the Moderator.  He shall strictly adhere to the subject of debate, and in no wise reflect on the person who preceeded him, by making remarks on his observation.
  4. No person shall speak more than three time on any one subject without leave obtained from the Association.
  5. No person shall absent himself from the Association without obtaining leave therefrom.
  6. No member of the Association shall address another by any form or appellation other than Brother.
  7. The Moderator shall not interfere with a member or prohibit him from speaking until his speech is finished unless he violates the rules of decorum.
  8. The names of all members of the Association shall be enrolled by the clerk and called as often as the Association may require.
  9. Any member who shall willingly and knowingly violate any of the foregoing rules shall be reproved by the Association in any way it may think proper.
