Order of Service for Ordaining
A Minister or Deacon



The conference should be left open from the last business meeting.

1. The pastor opens conference with the church, proceed to new

business.

2. The pastor calls for all the ordained officials of the churches of

the Association.

3. The Presbytery comes together and permanently organize by

selecting: (1) Moderator and Clerk. (2) One to question the

candidate. (3) One to lead the ordination prayer. (4) One to deliver

the charge. (5) One to deliver the candidate back to the church.

4. The Church makes a motion that Brother deliver

the candidate over to the presbytery for ordination. They proceed

with ordination.

5.Examination of candidate.

6. Vote to proceed or not to proceed with ordination.

Presbytery may excuse themselves from the rest of the house

before vote if so desired.

7. Ordination Prayer.

8. Laying on of hands.

9. Charge given to candidate.

10. Presbytery makes motion to deliver the candidate back to the

church and tell them we have found candidate worthy of his office.

11. The church makes a motion to receive the work of the presbytery.

12. The Presbytery makes a motion to hear the reading of their minutes

and turn minutes over to the church and adjourn.

13. The church makes a motion to hear the reading of the minutes and

adjourn.

14. The pastor and church shakes hands with the candidate and

presbytery as congratulations for their work and the candidate for

his office.
